LCE has a proud record of providing cutting-edge, product design services for more than 145 electrical engineering projects. About 1/4th of those product designs have been as a 2nd-tier contractor for highly classified technical work. LCE brings commercial approach to the military sector which has elevated the company’s ability to support unique design needs for antennas, sensors and power usage applications.
Below you’ll find examples with some of the information we’re allowed to share (as much of our work is considered confidential).

Examples include:

  • Implemented a mission termination system that included embedded firmware and control software.  Size, weight, ruggedness, and reliability were key design factors that LCE kept in consideration throughout the design.
  • Designed audio detection and control hardware for an audio/video surveillance system that captures directional video surveillance based on audio event triggers.
  • Designed and certified the electronics for a high powered DC-DC ruggedized radio power supply for vehicular deployment.  The design required a robust input circuit capable of performing circuit-breaker type functionality while not responding to transients seen from the typical “dirty” power sources.
  • Provided amplifier and power supply design and support services for high-powered acoustic defense system.  High gains required very low noise input circuits, and LCE redesigned front ends and audio sources to exceed system specifications.
  • Designed the hardware for a Portable MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) communications hub for temporary infrastructure in disaster situations and overseas camp installations.

Case Study | “Portable MIMO”

Military operations and organizations such as FEMA rely on communications as a critical pathway while on the move. The Portable MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) Communications Hub came through as solving a critical need in technology and reliability. LCE’s expertise in hardware design delivered a finished solution for temporary, reliable infrastructure in disaster situations and overseas camp installations.

Case Study | “GPS Modem”

A well-versed client in military contracting approached LCE in need of a GPS (Global Positioning System) Location-Aware Wireless Modem when current off-the-shelf solutions were not meeting performance expectations. The modem was small and standalone for field deployment, including satellite and Local Area Network communications. Throughout the process, LCE solved particular challenges of interference between different on-board radios and thermal issues, eventually outperforming the COTS option by size, weight, power, and overall reliability.
